Auto Burglaries on Campus
Please be aware there have been several auto burglaries on campus this week. There were two burglaries on April 1, 2009 at about 7:35PM. Two victims who left their vehicles unlocked had property taken. There were no witnesses to these two burglaries. On April 3, 2009, several more vehicles parked on campus were broken into. A surveillance video showed what appeared to be two black male subjects, dressed in black and driving a four door brown or bronze colored vehicle, breaking into several parked vehicles. These vehicles were parked in the lot at Pontchartrain Hall South and North and also in the shell parking lot between the HPC and the Childrens Center. Please be sure to keep your vehicle locked at all times, remove property from view in the interior of vehicles and place in the trunk or under vehicle's seats out of sight. These perpetrators appear to look inside of parked vehicles before breaking in and have passed on some vehicles without burglarizing them, perhaps because they do not observe property in them. Also, if you observe any suspicious activity such as a vehicle circling parked cars several times, passing up on obvious empty parking spaces, especially if the vehicle fits the description above, please contact University Police immediately. Thank you for your assistance.
